(stabilizing emotionally, sorry Krav & Eugene)
I agree with both of you. Obama's responses during the early portion on the economy (especially where to cut) were shaky. But I can't really expect him to be too specific until he gets a look at the budget placed before him. I thought he did very well responding to both the Ayers questions and the abortion questions. The fact is that the current economic climate, while a product of both parties, will absolutely ensure a Democratic victory this time.
McCain did not do a good job being specific about how Obama's tax plans might hurt small businesses. I suspect there are some that hover between that $200,000-$300,000 level where tax increases might really hurt. But McCain did not ever really make that point.
McCain could have lobbied more for a business tax cut with offsets on personal imcome tax increases for the very wealthy, but he didn't do so (perhaps apostacy in his party).
Obama will win, and with Democrat majorities in both houses, we're about to find out where they take us. If they struggle, there are always mid-term and 2012 elections coming.
I'm still not seeing any sign of the needed platform reforms in the Republican party, so they clearly need to hit "rock bottom" still. I'm hoping this election is the catalyst to get that started.
