If I may add a couple of new films to the "you really should see this film" list...

Synopsis culled from Netflix

"Shotgun Stories" - Set in southeast Arkansas, this cautionary indie tale from director Jeff Nichols tracks a blood feud that erupts when two sets of half-brothers come to blows at their father's funeral. The first-born siblings dubbed Boy, Son and Kid -- impersonal monikers that embody their father's indifference toward them -- explode in anger upon meeting their counterparts, who have real names and reaped the rewards of their father's later success.

Tense Tense Tense.

"Snow Angels" - Based on Stewart O'Nan's novel, this indie drama starring Kate Beckinsale intertwines parallel stories about teenager Arthur Parkinson (Michael Angarano) and his former babysitter, Annie Marchand (Beckinsale). Once the object of Arthur's boyhood infatuation, small-town waitress Annie heads down a fateful path after enduring a stormy relationship with her estranged spouse (Sam Rockwell). The supporting cast includes Amy Sedaris and Nicky Katt.

Both Rockwell and Bekinsdale give remarkable performances in my opinion.

And perhaps my favorite of this group with a wonderful, rich performance from veteran character actor Richard Jenkins (The dead father from Six Feet Under).

"The Visitor" - Widowed professor Walter Vale (Richard Jenkins) discovers an immigrant couple, Tarek (Haaz Sleiman) and Zainab (Danai Gurira), squatting in his Manhattan flat and becomes wrapped up in their lives when Tarek is thrown into a detention center. A wonderful Hiam Abbass co-stars as Tarek's mother, who forges an unlikely connection with Walter. Director Thomas McCarthy's follow-up to his indie hit The Station Agent premiered at Sundance in 2008.
