Ed, I can't defend the actions in Vietnam, but surely its naive to think that in the global climate of the 1950's and 1960's that any flirtation with Communism (really Fascism since that's what ALL Communist states become) wouldn't result in some "attention."Communism cannot be, by any definition, self-determination. Just ask any of the South Vietnamese refugees.
