1. Some domestic oil sources would lead to pollution and land surface disruption that would trouble both environmentalists and regular folks. Many would not. Nonetheless, score one for Ed.
2. Many environmental "extremists" oppose opening other domestic resources irregardless of the facts of environmental impact. Score one for the other side.
It's not rocket science. Domestic resources should be used on a case by case basis. However, we elect our representatives to make these sorts of decisions for us. Political games to not allow the subject to come up for votes are as undemocratic as are Patriot Act provisions supported by the Bush administration.
