For the record, I believe he was referring to the people that shout "Freebird" at any and all concerts.

The DJ he refers to, Kevin Mathews, used to be here in Chicago. Now he's been relegated to Grand Rapids.

I am not defending the song either.

Purple Haze makes me lunge for the dial every time. I respect the musician but its one of a dozen songs that have been played to death.
