The post wasn't really meant as a critique on the UN. It was asking people to do something specific
(and relatively minor- you don't even have to get out of your chair) to help the Burmese people who
probably suffer more in a single day than you and I will in our entire lifetimes. As Jack Nicholson said in Cuckoo's Nest, "well at least I tried goddamnit"...
