I too am fairly new to Broadband and have tried several avenues for streaming music but so far my favorite has been the Yahoo Launch Cast.
What’s good about it is that you tell it what you like, specific groups, artists or just genres and it does a good job of programming towards your likes. You rate songs as they are played and it keeps a running tally and plays things based on what you like and what others who like the same thing also recommend.
I can tune on my station and hear anything from Muddy Waters to STP or Steve Earle, John Prine, Rush or The Tragically Hip. And recently I have noticed the selection of music available has dramatically increased. I actually find it preferable to most of the local radio. Every 4 or 5 songs there is a 30-60 second commercial break, but I am fine with that.
If you are curious you can listen to my station, (another cool feature) but the only way I can figure to link you all to it is through my personal website

Look on the left side of the main page under my links (Currently it lands on The Ticks right shoulder). I would be curious to know if any of you actually listen and what you think.
Enjoy
