With all due respect, Andrea, I am a bit offended by your remark "Men need sex." It's as if you are saying we can't help ourselves. That's a really condescending attitude. (I know, probably not meant that way.) Spitzer had all kinds of options at his disposal, including his trusty left hand if he was really hard up. And what does "it might be a bit dangerous" mean, anyway? (Wait, don't answer that.)Fact is that as a former prosecutor, Spitzer should have known better about the law. There's also the whole side of prostitution as exploitation of women, which clearly happens a lot, even in the supposedly enlightened area of Amsterdam. Everyone knows that many of those girls are from Eastern Europe, and many are stuck there due to all kinds of other extra-legal issues. No, I don't think prostitution is OK, and I certainly don't want it openly available in my community. (Not such a Libertarian after all, at least not on this issue).I also find it curious that the general tone about Spitzer, at least here, is that he's a tragic character perhaps trapped by a law that shouldn't even be so. Meanwhile, when several Republicans were caught up in such scandals last year (Larry Craig and others) one could barely conceal the glee on this board. That's hypocritical, in my opinion.
