Regardless of how evil Saddam Hussein and his merry bunch of henchmen are/were, the pre-emptive action on our part was a disturbing departure from our usual way of conducting ourselves, unless you believe in the fairytale of the connection between Osama Mama and Saddam. The intelligence officer (Pelltier?) that resigned in protest, spoke eloquently about the strongarm techniques used by this administration to cooerce those connections.
My Son is in the 2/502, assigned to the 2nd Brigade of the 101st Airborne, .We haven't heard a word from him, except for the embeds. I support whatever gets him home safely and securely. He too is worried more about post-war Iraq than the war itself. During the urban war games, er, I mean training , that they received, he got more hits from his own platoon than the "enemy" platoon. He called them "rock farmers". These guys had no combat experience prior to this.
I've always tried to follow my Father's advise, a naval veteran of WW2. "Never throw the first punch, but when it comes, pick up whatever is close at hand, and make it stop and make it STICK."
Remember, it's "only the postman."
