I've heard, but haven't investigated in any detail that either Switzerland or is it Austria, the Swiss if I recall, have an interesting system. Along the lines of a medical saving plan. It's a governmental 'mandate', not a government run program(thus cutting out a resource gobbling, and thus useless ever, middleman), and the saving begins from the time one goes to work. Unlike our American systems(think health and retirement programs) these programs are said to be completely transferable. Which we could do here, but the people who write the laws don't write them that way, so many suffer penalties, and thus loss of assets if they change jobs(which many do, some frequently). We are self employed. The rates are out of this world. We do without medical care excepting emergencies and some preventative stuff like dentistry. Self medication, and my own version of a sweatlodge does wonders. One day, God willing, I'll suddenly drop dead. If the Mrs goes first, I'll dig a hole and add one of the worm bins for good measure.Too, widespread longevity, has more to do with improved methods of hygene, like washing ones hands, lol really it does, regularly(a relatively recent development/practice, historically and scientifically speaking), and learning(shall we say), to not shit where one eats, than anything science has come up with.
[In fact, the doctor who came up with the idea of washing ones hands between patients was scorned by his peers. If I'm not mistaken, he went literally mad trying to convince his fellow professionals.]The worst that could happen would be Uncle Sam running the show. That said, good call Pat!peaceably
