Have a small plot in the backyard for the last couple of years.  Mostly tomatos, onions & peppers (salsa in the fall) I've had relatively good luck with Sqash, peas & beans.  My main problems have been keeping the squirel's (sic) away from the corn & pears (They eat the seeds and throw the rest away) and the bunnies away from the spinach.  We have a rather large compost pile from the trees on the lot, so I turn a good amount into the soil every spring, which is going to be this weekend's project.
