I always felt like he was one of those authors I was supposed to read, supposed to enjoy... I did read a couple of his books but found them to be trite, pedantic and not very well-written, frankly... In Canada we have more than our share of such: Timothy Findley, Margaret Atwood, Margaret Laurence, etc...

But RIP... It goes so...?
