Lee, that was beautiful and thank you for posting that. i have both the WB box sets so far released and i absolutely treasure them. Carl Stalling is of course a genius but it's great to get some insight on the other people involved and how they did it. it's obvious [compared to today's saturday morning dreck] that the golden age cats had real respect and love for the medium, it just shows in every frame.

particular favorites that come to mind are Drip Along Daffy [with Porky as his sidekick, facing the dreaded Nasty Canasta] and Duck Amok, where the scenery behind Daffy shifts so often and radically that it drives him completely nuts. revealed at the end, the party responsible is, of course, Bugs, who closes the toon by looking into the camera and delivering the classic line, 'ain't i a stinkah?'

both are from the Golden collection, the first batch released. can't recommend it enough. boy, i could just post this thread into the ground...them dudes are my biggest influences. no surprise there, i suppose.
