Am I missing something here? Finally saw the film last week and afterwards I couldn't help but feel that the film was a wee bit contrived, preachy and had a "Lifetime TV movie of the wee quality" to it. .I couldn't wait for the film to end. It beat the "race card"over our heads, senseless, with over-produced snippets/scenarios. As a whole, character development was at the level of a MTV video. We couldn't believe the film was even nominated, and then it wins for "Best Picture"?
Glad to see Gustavo Santaolalla win for his "Brokeback" score even though his score for "The Motorcycle Diaries" and "21 Grams" was far superior. And what was up with the "Best Song" category? Only 3 songs? that somehow beckoned to those days of the "Best Song" nominations of the 70's. Hell they even brought back those interpretive dance numbers, just horrible! Though it was entertaining to see "pimp posse" walk away with.
