we are among the best, if not right up there in the pole position. we have bright and devoted people working hard to create advances. having the government direct us toward 'healing a few lepers' won't change that.
also,
1.) doctors enjoy the profit advantages from private practice probably a bit more than they would public. you're arguing that it would cause a doctor shortage or something? not with a genuine desire to help mankind that some of us have, those of us that go into child care, police work, social work, medicine, therapy, etc. It may be realistic but it's also awfully cynical to believe that the only way to keep doctors coming into the system is to keep their profit margins high and their obligations low.
either way,
2.) doctors will always make a very good living.
but - sorry - it's not just about doctors. it's about people - patients. they're your fellow Americans, for whom you'll support any misguided & aggressive foreign policy or domestic privacy infringements to keep safe from Islamic bad guys but they're on their own against germs and viruses and cancers. hmm. those suffering because they have nada. where's the conservative compassion for them? they are the least among us, you know, so WWJD?
