I quite agree with your take on this. McCartney wants his name to go first only on the songs on which he was the primary writer. Surely that is fair.I've shared credit with others on things where I provided most of the thought and work and then watched those others garner more accolades (and rewards) than I received. I well understand why McCartney would want a touch more credit for the songs he wrote.
