Ah - well I saw my first echidna on the east coast of Tasmania, near Wineglass Bay - beautiful spot! My favourite Aussie beastie is the wombat - saw heaps in Tassie, but also had a confrontation with one at Wilson's Promontory in Victoria - it walked deliberately towards me while hissing loudly - scared the living daylights out of me - prefer them at a distance!
