in Buddhism one is encouraged to treat the person who inflicts suffering on us as the Guru...they're giving us the opportunity to develop compassion and loving kindness...the very things that we find easy with the ones we love....

but seriously, i have realized that i owe my ex-wife a curious debt of gratitude exactly along those lines. it may take a while longer, but she will get it.
