Roger:

You know, the thing with me and typing in ALL CAPS started out because of a software incompatibility, but it seems to have grown into some sort of trademark or signature of mine.

For reasons known only to Microsoft and their internal software engineers --- there are incompatibilities built into the Windows architecture --- in the form of something called UNDOCUMENTED A.P.I.'s (application programming interface). In Windows, API calls are performed by the billions of .DLL files scattered throughout Windows, hither and yon. The .DLL files (dynamic linked library files) tell Windows applications how to behave in that environment. Because of this, there are severe problems (only at times, however) with displaying content in my Mac OS X browser, which is called SAFARI. Apple finally shitcanned IE by building a better browser.

The software that Dan is using for this message board has some of these problems --- for instance --- I have no editing buttons on my POST NEW MESSAGE page. No bold, no italic, no changing typefaces. I also cannot post my own photos on the GALLERY --- as the posting action is simply ignored by the browser.

I have attempted to find out what is going on --- and the only thing I can come up with is the infamous Microsoft undocumented A.P.I. problem --- something which is built into the Windows OS as a type of planned obselescense for Microsoft's competitors, of which APPLE is a growing threat.

For APPLE, iPod sales are up 990% from last year, and the iTunes music store is the most successful paid music download site --- in their first year they posted 70 MILLION downloads off more than a half million song catalog. Their 100 MILLION FREE SONGS with PEPSI helped enormously.

Anyway, this is what my CAPS AFFLICTION has grown out of --- when I am typing the final draft of my book, I have to be careful to NOT TYPE THIS WAY!
