At my last graduation, the speaker, a distinguished alum, reminisced about his own graduation. He recalled a clear, warm, pleasant day, as he put it, a happy day. He then confessed he didn't have the faintest idea of who the speaker had been or what he had talked about.

This is the only thing I remember of the several commencement speeches I have endured.
