Kevin G asked:

Why does bad news sell so much better than good news?

Kevin:

You have a bit of a short memory --- as we have discussed this here before. It was around the time BOWLING FOR COLUMBINE was in the theatres.

The reason why bad news "sells" so much better than good news, is because bad news keeps the population uneasy with fear much more effectively than good news.

Get a copy of the following book either from your local bookstore, or from the library, if you are not a person who buys and reads books:

THE CULTURE OF FEAR by Barry Glassner

All the answers you seek concerning the good news vs. bad news dialectic is right in this book. It is in paperback, and it should set you back about $12.00 and a few hours of your time to read and understand the contents.

And Kevin, this book isn't about righties, lefties, or any other of that silly nonsense. This book contains straight answers about the manner in which the news is reported. This book and author were featured in BOWLING FOR COLUMBINE, so you may have already seen this material, if you have seen that documentary.

Do yourself and your peace of mind a favor and read this book.
