Greetings:Those of us who enjoy the fine art of conversation often times are
left with little to watch on television in today's dumbed-down
world. However, there is a nice little show sitting in the middle of
all the dreck --- the Independent Film Channel's DINNER FOR FIVE,
with Jon Favreau [Favreau wrote and starred in both 'Swingers' and
'Made'].At first, you might think this is a cooking show, with the show title
being what it is. Instead, it is perhaps the most charming thirty
minutes on the air each Friday night at 10:00pm. DINNER FOR FIVE is an old-time salon style discussion. And the
best part is --- no commercials!!! There is no interruption in the
discussion, which makes it much more enjoyable to watch. It flows
just like a real conversation. Also, a great part of this show is that the four guests for each week
always represent the best of the newer stars, along with oldsters
such as Burt Reynolds and Dennis Farina [Get Shorty].http://www.dinnerforfive.comDinner For Five is intelligent TV, as it does not contain any of the
usual "us versus them" phony dialectics like most other talk shows
on the air. It is engaging and thought provoking in a way unlike
anything else right now. Best of all, the guests do not consist of the
usual list of pundits as one might find on the Sunday morning
political programming. As Jon Favreau said in his interview with SLATE.COM, "I try to get
people who I think would get along, because unlike, say, 'Politically
Incorrect,' where you try to get people who are going to try to
create controversy on the show, I try to get people who will get
along and create a much smoother chemistry."Check it out --- you might be surprised that you'll enjoy the
subjects discussed.KDB = Buffalo, NY USA
