Some are bands...some are albums...some are people...but here's a list...and a lot of dots:

Primus...Eric Johnson...Thrak...SRV walks off the stage at Alpine Valley and walks right up to Heaven.... Pearl Jam at Day on the Hill in Lawrence May 1, 1991... Nirvana at the KU Ballroom ...Triage...Johnny Cash meets Rick Rubin...Barenaked Ladies...The Yellow Shark... Dave Matthews...Roger Waters Is Amused To Death... Elton John finally faces Reality and admits that none of that Crap is ROCK and starts doing soundtracks for Disney Films... That Bangle Girl...Michael Stipe gets sick, Pete Buck Get's Drunk, Mills Gets Divorced, Bill Berry gets a headache and leaves and STILL REM continues on...Ani Di Franco... Metallica Cuts Their Hair... The Screaming Trees... The Chemical Brothers... The Beatles continue to Generate Revenue by releasing crappy recordings of good songs with The Beatles Anthology... Page and Plant continue to generate revenue by realeasing new arrangements of old material with Unleded... Soul Coughing... NWA... Jurassic 5...Steve Earle rises from the Ashes...Dookie...Lollapalooza...Junior Brown... Jerry Garcia Dies and thousands ask "What the hell are we going to do NOW?" and begin to buy Phish Tickets... Bill Wyman leaves the Rolling Stones...someone thinks it's a good idea to Sign Marilyn Manson...ProTools...Achtung Baby... Runaround (proof that a really cool song can be played so much that one begins to hate the entire band)... Rage Against the Machine...Biggie Smalls... Madonna Makes Vain attempts to look classy but continues to fall back on Sleaze as a Marketing Tool... WARPED before VANS... Hepcat Records... Hank III... Rufus Wainwright... Bone Machine... Favored Nations is a refuge to really fast guitar players... MTV begins to eliminate music from their programming... a lab tech in California creates a filetype called an MP3 (or a butterfly beats it's wings in a field in New Guinea and sets off the end of the world)... John Frusciante Leaves the Red Hot Chilli Peppers and then comes back again even though his solo stuff is really good... Seal... The Reservoir Dogs Soundtrack... The Chronic...Winfield Flatpicking Contest... The Death of Chet Atkins... Mellon Collie and the Infinate Sadness... The Line 6 POD... Prince proves that you can be talented and REALLY strange and still be well respected... Korn turns down the Midrange on their amps, detunes their 7 String Guitars and saves Metal from a slow, languishing death... Parental Warning Stickers Increase Sales... and just like every other Decade, we buy tons of CRAP hoping that we'll find that enduring, life changing sound and end up whistling in the shower.
