Hey Gene,
I'm sure in Med School, you did some sort of Psych. Hospital observation or practicum of some kind. In your professional life, have you not seen a significant percentage of folks who really don't handle freedom well at all. Not to say that folks shouldn't have the opportunity for freedom...but going from the pressure cooker of a Dictatorship to freedom in a very short period of time often causes trouble. Hopefully for everyone, the trouble will end.
Microcosmic examples of what I mean:
1. Prisoners being released into society with no step program out.
2. Folks being released to the streets following drug/alcohol treatment
3. Soldiers going from battlefield to home with little or no debriefing.
Freedom is a wonderful thing. It's like a peice of rope. But with that rope, you can make a net or a noose.
