Noise is a nice part of any rockin' teen combo.

Bjork was in a movie recently, I think it was called Selma, which involved this kind of Industrial Composition...or an inspiration by mechanical sounds to create music.

I thought DB's use of "noise" on triage, was great.  It was one of the things that really held my interest and continues to do so.

Just thinking of other well known groups that have used mechanical noise as part of a composition:

1. Billy Joel: Machine Samples on Allentown. Live, he actually had a percussionist with a big ol' metal pipe with a pickup in it.

2. Pink Floyd:  They're all over but my favorite use of sound effects was on Not Now John with the pnumatic drill and jackhammer sounds.

3. John Mellencamp: Brake Drum on Scarecrow.

4. Blue Oyster Cult:  One cannot forget the Lowly Cowbell, that agricultural bovine location device used with such fervor on many songs,  including don't fear the reaper!

I'm sure there's LOTS more than that...but it's still pretty cool.

All work and no play makes jack a dull boy,
