My 9th Grade English Paper on Social Security

I went to my parents home last weekend when my parents threw a birthday party for my eldest child and my dad handed me a two page paper that I wrote for an English Class in 9th grade. That was 1984. My teacher chose Social Security for me and my paper asserted that unless future administrations weren't careful with their spending, Social Security would be in severe jeopardy by 2005.
Scary.
Now, I do not wish to present myself as an economic prodigy. I had some help. I was only 14 and it was in the middle of the Reagan years. But it was strangely prophetic. Oh...and weird that my parents kept that stuff. It was just based on the population of baby boomers who would retire in the late 90's and start using the fund to a greater extent than it had been originally intended. I think most of my sources were from Time and Newsweek.
So...if a Zit Faced 14 year old Boy from Kansas knew Soc. Security Horrors were on the horizon, what did the subsequent administrations do to prevent it? (that's including the Clinton Admin..so let's have a nice bipartisan, non sludge throwing discussion here)
Anyway...just thought I'd share.
