Don Van Vilet (Captain Beefheart) has retired from music. He is currently living on a small farm and apparently his paintings are getting big bucks.

Beefheart is one of my own musical heroes --- I am more than slightly jealous that you got to see him in concert!

As should certainly take no one here by surprise --- I love the anti-traditionalist run against the grain type of people. FRANK ZAPPA of course is near the top of this list.

Sadly --- I only got to see FRANK live one time --- on what turned out to be his last ever tour. I went to see his note for note rendition of STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN --- which had since been released. One song called JESUS THINKS YOU WERE A JERK on the album BROADWAY THE HARD WAY was recorded from this show.

FZ is one of the people whom I never had the pleasure of meeting who I miss terribly.
