*sigh* I tried to post this earlier and something happened and it never showed up. So...here we go again.

Kevin wrote to me, I think distressed at my post at the beginning of this thread. I'll not post what he wrote because I did not get permission to do so. So, here's what I wrote back.

I had this big ol long letter written before and then...before sending it, I went back and re-read MY post as well as the entire conversation between you and DB, so that way my response to you at least had some merit.  And I've come to some conclusions.

1.  My post was one sided.  Yes, both of you took shots at one another, and depending on who's point of view will reveal who fired the first shot.  But, where my post falls short is the fact that DB chooses to take part in this board and chooses to be offended and therefore was co-combatant in the whole thing, and I should have mentioned that.  I've never been comfortable when folks take personal jabs at one another.  And without meaning to, I ended up jabbing you.  I'd really hate to see DB, or YOU or any other of our regulars disappear due to insults and I hope you remain an active member of this board.  Heck, you've been here a lot longer than me.

2. If your motivation was simply to debate a subject, then I can accept that.  But it got out of hand. (my opinion of course)  And y'all are totally welcome to allow it to get out of hand...but when it does get personal, then it throws into question your motivations.  (not just you, everyone involved.)  If my assumptions about your motivations were incorrect, than I apologize for that. 

3. Some debates have logical endgames but not emotional ones.  We often get emotional here and that keeps us from ever finding the end.

Hopefully this brings a bit more equillibrium to my post.   I'm going to cut and paste my response in the board.
