We got to watch men walk on the moon and that's enough for
one generation. It had better be, because we're not going to
get anything more in our time. I'd say we're about at the
same stage in space as the Newfoundland Norse were in North
America. It was centuries after that before the Basques
figured out how to make the whaling grounds and fisheries
pay, not to mention Coronado discovering Kansas. There
aren't going to be any Mexicos or Perus for us to conquer,
which may be just as well. Certainly George W. is no Prince
Henry the Navigator.
