I first heard this on Aspen Extreme movie. This song reminds me of what is to be young. Make you want to get going.

This entire CD is great. Not a bad one in the bunch. I've loved it for years!

This is the only place I could find the lyrics. Why?

Got'em on the iphone now...................

MY FAVORITE ALBUM OF ALL TIME.IF YOU COULD TAKE 10 ALBUMS WITH YOU TO A DESERTED ISLE,THIS SHOULD BE ONE OF OF THEM.
A review of Stranger from Bedtime Stories posted by tcrocker on 10/24/2007

Stranger--Is it just me or is this the most provocotive vietnam protest song never heard? Wow, how did this get missed?. Did this get missed? Maybe I missed it. I was doing a residency in psychiatry at the time of its release and never heard anything about it. Since hearing it for the first time some months ago its become my litmus test with any one I encounter. Here...listen to this...What you dont like it?..You have no moral compass..Goodbye. You lost everything for me there must something I can do for you..... I weep for fathers and sons, warring generations,a world without empathy. Thank you Mr. Baerwald

Ahhhh, just beautiful, raw, regretful, fragged pain. One of the greatest lyrical stories I've ever heard. Right up there with "Polaroids" and "Farewell to Annabel." Economy, economy, economy.

Holy shit is this song amazing.

Who's singing harmony/back-up on this track?

I used to listen to this album long ago and I also had Boomtown. I relate to David Baerwald so matter what he writes.

this is one of the best CDs ever recorded - the lyrics are brilliant

I bought this cd after seeing the video for Dance, which I thought was a great track. I had heard Boomtown previously but didn't know David otherwise.

Well, as with pretty much always happens, I buy for one song, and love everything else even more.

Hello Mary is just a beautiful song, and acoustically, it's impecible. I have used it when buying audio equipment more than once, because of the range of the track. The words also completely captured me from the first time I heard it. It's still one of my favorite tracks.

I definitely count Bedtime Stories as one of 5 albums I'd take were I stranded on a desert island, it's just that good. I've convinced at least 2 of my closest friends of the merit of the album, and they both own and love it now too.

Thanks David.
A review of Colette from Bedtime Stories posted by Rachel on 3/25/2004
I bought this as a tape back when I was a freshman in highschool. I loved the album, but Colette was the one that stuck with me and got added to whatever mixed tape I made over the years. I am now in my late twenties and find myself wanting to go back to the whole Bedtime Stories to see if it would effect me the way it did when I was younger. Colette was a song that was sexy before I knew what that meant. It was a lovesong without being blatant or condesending. I loved that David went from a whisper to a heartfelt wail in the same verse and never made me feel manipulated.

I bought this during a particularly bad bout of insomnia back in '91. Didn’t know the artist, just like the title. This particular track still makes me weep. I make even casual acquaintances listen to it. To hear that the artist himself doesn’t think much of it staggers me but there you go.
A review of Walk Through Fire from Bedtime Stories posted by Andrea on 5/8/2003
That is what this one says to me. One of my faves.
A review of Liberty Lies from Bedtime Stories posted by PatBrown on 4/11/2003
To me this is the strongest track on Bedtime Stories. Such a great picture painted with this song.
Best lyric line "some ladies were talking from the Committee of Oh My God" :):)
Would have loved to heard it live the last tour along with Dance and Stranger but oh well
A review of Hello Mary from Bedtime Stories posted by Dave Tahija on 3/10/2003
There was this romance once, a love affair that was real, that was going to last but then it didn't and now there's concrete remembrances of then but the feelings and emotions, the important memories, they're ghosts is all and you can't bring them back with shallow talk about where you're at now or vague mentions of the changes for you both.

So now if you call to check and see, you can't talk to each other, you can hear the words but they don't mean a thing.

This song is a lot of fun to play solo…

When this album was released I was very excited to hear the "new stuff". I wasn't disappointed. Sally and I had ended three years earlier. It was a transitional/chaotic period for me and as with "Boomtown" this album was to be the soundtrack for the period. Good choices, bad choices, living in a big (to me) city, booze, wacky girlfriends etc. The songs/stories on "Bedtime Stories" were the same as what I was experiencing. The connection was again instant. I know DB himself doesn't like like this album for various reasons. Other fans on the board seem to prefer "Triage" but, to me, it's his best solo album of his three official releases. "Hello Mary", "Liberty Lies" and "In the Morning" are phenominal. This is the second album that I'll take with me when I go to meet my maker. Hey, you never know...!!
A review of Stranger from Bedtime Stories posted by PatBrown on 1/26/2003
I remember listening to this CD and thinking why did David bury this track at the end but sometimes I guess it is that way with CD's. Anyway vocally I think this is an excellent song and it was well produced in that it was not overproduced. After hearing the demo track for it off the Stories Before Bedtime demo I like the one on this Album better. It is cleaner. Very simple instrumental song. David I wished you liked it more. I would love to hear it live.
